We started our journey from Texas to Raton, New Mexico early in the morning. As they say, the best view of Texas is in your rearview mirror. We were up by 7 and decided to leave early, as we had seen the forecast for major wind gusts of up to 60 MPH starting around noon and we didn't want to take any chances. The countryside was pretty amazing, with lots of flat land, cows, and dirt.

Cupcakes from scratch
I made cupcakes from scratch in the camper and only made half a recipe. I also topped them with a delicious buttercream cheese frosting.
Koa Lubbock texas
We drove from Boerne, Texas to Lubbock, Texas, which took us about 6 to 7 hours. The KOA campsite was pleasant, and it was easy to set up since we didn't need to unhook the truck as we were only staying for one night. We planned to leave early in the morning to head to Raton, New Mexico. However, we are a bit concerned about the news of major winds with gusts of up to 60 mph and steady winds ranging from 25 to 35 mph. These conditions are not favorable for a high-profile camper.
Cascade Caverns RV Park
We left South Padre Island at around 10 in the morning and headed towards our first stop on the way back home. We stopped at Cascade Caverns, and though we really wanted to take a tour of the caves, we couldn't as we got there too late. We had to leave early in the morning for our next trek on the journey.
It was incredibly peaceful there. After being at South Padre Island with the constant wind and the noise of seagulls and other birds, it was a welcome change to experience the quietness. We woke up to the sweet sound of a small songbird singing, which was very relaxing.
It takes some time to get back to the RV spot, as you have to pass through some residential areas and farmlands before you finally arrive at the 103-acre site in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, which is just 2.5 miles off the interstate.
We were relieved that we arrived at our destination safely. However, we took a wrong turn in San Antonio and missed our exit. Despite our efforts to merge into the right lane, no one let us in. We had to recalculate our route, hoping that we wouldn't end up in an unfamiliar residential area with a camper behind us. After navigating through several twists and turns, we finally got back on track and reached our destination. In retrospect, I dislike the city and its chaotic traffic. I would rather take longer routes on smaller roads to avoid the congested areas.
FIshing on the levy at South Padre Island
We finally got our fishing license and went to the levee to try our luck at fishing. We caught lots of fish, which kept me from getting bored, but unfortunately, we didn't catch anything worth keeping. We caught a stingray, a couple of hammerhead sharks, some whitening, catfish, and a few other fish that we have no idea about. We also saw some turtles swimming and dolphins.
