We were aware of a high wind advisory in effect from 9 am to 9 pm as we planned to travel to Zion. The advisory warned of gusts ranging from 25 to 35 mph, with potential for up to 50 mph gusts. Neither of us were looking forward to driving or even being a passenger in such windy conditions, especially since the trip was going to take over 3 hours.
To avoid the strong winds, we woke up early, loaded up the camper, and hit the road just before 7 AM. Fortunately, we had smooth sailing for the most part of the trip. We feel immensely grateful that we left early. However, about 20 miles before our destination, the winds began to blow, and we had to slow down and hold on tight.
We arrived at our destination after a little over four hours of travel. We are staying at the Zion River Resort & campground in Virgin, Utah. The check-in process was smooth and we were pleased with our RV spot, which was spot 88 and located by the river. It's one of our favorite spots, but keep in mind that when making a reservation, it's important to provide accurate information about the size of your RV or trailer, as some sites may not be able to accommodate larger vehicles. We booked this particular spot in September of last year and we're glad we did, as some spots were already full by the time we arrived. By the end of the night, the park was completely full.

The Virgin River is not ideal for fishing, but it is a great place to cool down or go tubing, although the water may be too cold for tubing at this time. We have been experiencing highs of 53 degrees recently. The trees are just beginning to bud, as shown in the picture.
