Blackbeach Campground, Silver Bay, MN

We've traveled 2501 miles and finally arrived back home in Silver Bay. We plan to stay here for a week to visit with family and explore the tourist attractions. We are staying at Blackbeach Campground, We really like this campground; they have done a great job with it. They kept us updated with emails on the wifi codes, check in process, our campsite number, hours of operation etc. The host at the campground, when we checked in was great. Friendly, made sure that we had the information we needed, clear directions to the campsite.

There's plenty of room and sites, but I must say that this campground fills up fast, especially during the summer, fall foliage tours, and hunting season. I had to plan our trip carefully to secure more than 3 days at a time in this campground.

They have been adding on the campground, we were in site 47.

Great Meal

We had a couple of nice meals that the brother-in-law made for us. Ribs one night and then steaks OH my, you wanted to lick the plate with that meal. Steak, little baked/smashed potatoes, and romaine lettuce on the grill with a wonderful salad dressing. A Caesar Salad dressing with no egg! Most delicious.

Maple Grove, Minnesota

We've arrived at the next stop. The weather was warm, in the upper 80s, during the drive, with a little wind but nothing serious. We could see the gas tank going down.

We'll spend a few days here visiting family before heading north to Silver Bay, MN. While here, we had a few thunderstorms and some downpours of rain, but no hail or twisters, so all good.

The campground was clean, the hosts were nice. Had no issues with water pressure or anything else. The place has lots of trees around it so there is shade.

Jackson KOA Minnesota

Made it to the next stop here in Jackson, MN. This is our last one stopper, then we will be in Maple Grove for a couple of days visiting family. Nice KOA, very well kept.

On every trip comes the day that one must do the wonderful laundry! The laundry room was clean of course, $2.00 a load to wash and dry! Which is typical. So, before we left home, I filled up the laundry bin with quarters, soap sheets, and fabric sheets.

We cooked chicken breasts, on the grill, had salad, and noodles with a cream jalapeno base sauce for dinner. YUMMY!

Corn Palace, Mitchell South Dakota

While in Mitchell, one must visit the Corn Palace! We took the self-guided tour, and it's amazing that all the murals are made out of corn. Of course, when in South Dakota, one must try sunflower seeds. They actually have the brand that I've started to really like, Wild Dutchman. They are less salty, and I like the roasted flavor. I also had to buy the Dakota Brothers popcorn.

We had breakfast at the Main Street Mercantile. The food and service was good.

working on changing the mural out front

They are changing the mural out front, they draw it on this paper and have it marked with the color's etc of the corn to use.

Mitchell South Dakota

Just arrived at Lake Mitchell Campground. It's a really nice place. The temperature was 91 degrees throughout the state. I'm glad to be done with the long drive. There was a slight crosswind, which made it a bit challenging for the driver. We made a stop at Wall Drug, so the drive was longer than expected. This campground would be perfect for a family gathering. There are lots of different sites, from tents to RVs and travel trailers. You can fish in the lake and even rent pontoons. I wish we could stay an extra night here. Note to self: maybe stay extra night on another travel date.

Wall Drug, Wall, South Dakota

Everyone must see Wall Drug. Man oh man, there are lots of shops, everything you can imagine to buy it is there. We didn't have much time to stay and check everything out, a person could spend hours there. One thing we did notice, that in the parking lot, there were campers there dry camping. It must be for free. Note if we ever come this way again and need a place to stay.

KOA Ellensburg Washington

We w oke up this morning to head down the road to Ellensburg, it was 31 degrees outside in Missoula, MT. Oh my--we needed to turn on the fu...
