Jacks up to Miles City KOA, Montana

The winds started about 1 AM, shaking the trailer, and it was non-stop blowing. We debated whether to stay in Dickenson for another day or drive to the next stop. We knew it was a short journey to Miles City ....

Of course, we took the, let's go! We encountered major winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 50 to 60 mph all the way to Miles City. Can you say 7 mpg? As far as gas goes, most of the way, we were averaging 11 to 12 miles a gallon.

The driver took it slow, and we made it. Hopefully, the winds will die down soon. We will be here one night, and then off again.

Since we've made it here and there's not much to do until the winds calm down, I've decided to go and do some laundry. I was surprised to find that it costs $1.75 for washing and $0.75 for the dryers. Cheapest so far! They also have a charming gift shop that offers locally made items as well as general supplies.

Yummy Chicken Cordon Bleu

Talk about a yummy dinner, bacon-wrapped chicken cordon bleu with a mango, tomato, and cucumber salad.

Little Missouri Saloon

After a 98-degree day thru the park, we stopped in Medora at this little bar to have a cocktail! AHHH, margarita good!

Theodore Roosevelt National Park, North Dakota

We decided to stay another night in Dickinson, ND, to visit Theodore Roosevelt National Park. It was quite warm, around 98 degrees, so we didn't do a lot of hiking around the park. I also was able to use my senior national park pass for the second time!

The Little Missouri River was barely flowing. It's amazing how dry everything is, not just here, but everywhere! We saw some buffalo, wild horses, a few birds, prairie dogs and antelope.

The park wasn't very crowded. Part of the road was closed for construction, so we couldn't complete the whole south loop. The leaves are also starting to change color.

It sure was a nice break from doing one-night stays, that's for sure.
