Mountain Range RV Park, Columbus Montana

We arrived at Mountain Range RV Park in Columbus, Montana after driving through some rain showers and occasional wind. Fortunately, we didn't encounter any snow. They were saying snow could be at the 6300 foot level and we were higher than that! The temp's were around 43 degrees. Winter is coming I guess.

It's funny how some drivers on the road just shouldn't be out there - they speed up, slow down, cut you off, don’t know how to merge, and the list goes on. I'm sure most of you have been there and felt the pain.

The hosts at the campsite were very friendly--they were quick to respond to our emails about having any openings for the one night. Seems like a nice quiet park, easy access from the interstate.

When we got set up, it started raining, which we considered lucky. We're hoping the forecast for thunderstorms, hail, and high winds is wrong. We don't want any hail. We plan to spend a quiet evening, enjoying a cocktail and regrouping before our trip to Casper, WY to spend some time with our daughter.

It looks like they are going to be adding a few more RV spots here. The restrooms were well maintained.

Packing up and leaving River's Edge

Last night, it rained heavily at the campsite, as I lay in the camper reminiscing about the days when we used to go tent camping. I was so grateful to be in a warm bed, remembering how our tent would get wet and leak, leaving our sleeping bags and belongings soaked.

Packing up the camper in the rain today was tough enough, and I couldn't help but imagine what it would have been like if we were still in a tent. The wet ponderosa needles were everywhere. We were soaked, when we finally finished putting things away.

Then at 4:15 AM, we were awakened by a beeping sound. It sounded like an alarm going off in the camper, but when we checked, there was nothing. I went outside and realized that the camper trailer about 20 ft away from our spot, that it was their fire alarm was beeping. This morning, the owners must have returned, as I saw the woman outside trying to silence the alarm, with a rock, she smashed it into pieces rather than remove the battery. But we managed to get everything loaded up and down the road we went to the next stop on the journey. Hopefully, no snow, for they say snow in the higher evaluations of 6300 ft, could be snow.

River's Edge Resturant

OOOOh my goodness. We ate at the restaurant located in the RV park. I ordered the boneless rib special, and it was absolutely delicious—I could have licked the plate clean. Hubby had the bison burger and said it was pretty good. I was surprised that a Gin and Tonic was only $5.00, and the entire meal, including drinks, was under $45.00.

We did a little playing of the slots, left with 50.00 in our pocket's, so, paid for the meal and made 5.00 pretty good.

River's Edge Resort, Alberton Montana

Another good day on the road - we had a few raindrops once we were closer to Montana. The new truck, Big "D," did great at pulling the trailer up and down the hills; we had to go over three mountain passes.

We're currently at our campsite for the night at River's Edge Resort. Right now, a train is passing by and there is some highway noise from Interstate 90 on the other side, but considering the price, it's not too bad. Hopefully, the train won't run all night as it's pretty loud. Apart from that, it's a nice campground. We're planning to check out the restaurant on site and see how it is.

Evening at Campground

Sycamore Tree, rather interesting the little balls are the way they seed themselves I guess.

Puff mushroom

A hot dog never tasted so good--quiet evening at the campground, watching the sun go down. Very peacefully

Cascade Campground, Moses Lake, Washington

Heading out for another adventure to Silver Bay, Minnesota.

After spending a weekend at the sprint boat races from the 6th to the 8th, we packed up the camper and hit the road.

We left around 9 AM, and this time the traffic through Seattle wasn't bad at all. We arrived at our destination around 3 PM. The trip took a little longer than expected due to road construction and a car on fire on the interstate, which caused a backup and closed the road to one lane.

We were at a rest stop just outside of Cle Elum, and our friend pulled up. We were like, "This looks like Bill's truck and boat." Sure enough, it was Bill. He was like, "What the hell!" He is headed to Wyoming to do some fishing. Talk about a small world. After a few hello's and hugs we said our see ya later's and on the road we once again.

We arrived at our first stop, Cascade Campground, in Moses Lake, Washington. I'm sure that during the summer this place is bustling! However, right now in the middle of the week, there are only a few of us and two others, along with a few tents, in the tent area of the campground. There are plenty of activities for people to enjoy, such as fishing and swimming.
