Tucson across to Las Cruces New Mexico

Wow, I'm so relieved we made it here after 243 miles from Tucson to Las Cruces, New Mexico, despite the strong winds blowing across the land. The gusts were up to 50 mph, and it was very windy throughout most of the way. There was only one part where the winds pushed us, but otherwise, it was quite challenging for the driver, let alone the passenger.

We encountered dust blowing around in the background, thank goodness it never really amounted to a major dust storm, like I guess they can have, where you need to pull over on the side of the road, stop, and get your foot off the brake so that another vehicle won't hit you, thinking you're moving.

We had a close call with a semi-truck. As we were passing the truck, it either got blown by the wind or didn't see us and started crossing the center line. I was screaming "NO" in the truck, and Galen was on the shoulder hanging on to it, but the truck finally pulled back into its lane. Later, we were following a travel trailer that was going too fast, and its back end was swaying all over the place. We had to get past it quickly, afraid it might lose control.

Rincon County West RV Park, Tucson, AZ

Made it from Sedona to Tucson in just over 4 hours. We had good weather for travel and are now staying at Rincon County West RV Park.

We visited the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and found it to be worth the admission cost. There were many cacti to see, which we especially enjoyed.

Route 66 & Rancho Sedona RV Park

We have driven over 1550 miles so far and decided to take Route 66 instead of Highway 40 due to the latter's potholes. It turned out to be a much better decision! We encountered some snow on the top of the mountains along the route, but we made it safely to Sedona, AZ. The RV park where we are staying is very nice. I'll keep you updated on our journey.

Heron's at Rancho Sedona Park

About six or seven herons were nesting

in the trees of the park, nestled in the branches.

Sedona Air Tours

We had a tough time deciding on which trail to take during our visit to Sedona, considering the plethora of options available and the limited time we had as we had plans to meet an old friend residing in Sedona after that.

After much contemplation, we decided to take a helicopter tour, which turned out to be an excellent choice. The crew and people were fantastic, and they even took us on a small tour of Cottonwood and Jerome while we waited for our ride. We highly recommend this tour company! They also offered a shuttle service, which, we are glad that we ended up taking.
