Glenn's Ferry Interpretive Center

 I had to visit the Oregon Trail crossing that Glenn's Ferry is famous for. It's hard to imagine what life was like back then, traveling across the country in a covered wagon, hoping for a better life. They didn't have any luxuries that we have now, like running water, showers, or air conditioning.  This is just one of the other cool things to see at this state campground. We really enjoyed this area.

We had a great time at the Three Island Ferry State Park in Glenn's Ferry, Idaho.

It's an excellent spot for group gatherings, family reunions, and other events. The upper and lower campgrounds are both good, and plenty of sites are available.

You can rent cabins as well as enjoy the wonderful pavilion, horseshoe pits, and frisbee golf. There are plenty of green areas to relax in, and it's conveniently located within walking distance of the Y Knot Winery and a great little hardware store in town. We discovered this when our water hose burst due to excessive water pressure at the other campsite and we had to buy a new one.

However, I highly recommend booking early as it fills up fast.

They have a strict check-in policy which means you cannot access your site until 2 PM. However, they do have a waiting area where you can stay until then. During our recent visit, we arrived early and decided to pass the time by heading to the winery where we enjoyed a glass of wine and some appetizers.

We took a self-guided tour of the park and saw the original wagon ruts and Conestoga replicas. Afterward, we visited the Oregon Trail History and Education Center to learn more about the pioneers, early settlers, and Native American history related to the trail. It was amazing to learn about the challenging life they had back then.

This is what happens when a water hose breaks at night, causing a small lake to form under your camper and your neighbor's.

We were aware of the upcoming bad weather from Evanston to Glenns Ferry. So we woke up early to leave before the winds got worse. Unfortunately, we encountered heavy winds throughout the journey, which made the drive uncomfortable for both the driver and the passenger. Consequently, we had to slow down our pace, but eventually, we reached our destination safely.

We both agreed that this was the best coffee we'd ever had! Since we didn't want to sit and have coffee in the camper, we made some, filled our cups, and hit the road. 

One thing is for sure, a good weather app is a must. I highly recommend checking the weather of your destination and the surrounding areas. You never know when a storm might arise and what could happen out there.
